Diane Hudson

Diane Hudson, MSEd, LMHC, CYT200 is a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), and a Certified Yoga Teacher.

​

Diane attended Western Illinois University where she graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration, 2010 with her Master of Science degree in Educational Studies, and 2019 with her Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her professional experience includes The Abbey Addiction Treatment Center, Life Connections Mental Health, Davenport Police Department, and the American Red Cross; as well as many volunteer opportunities including the Quad Cities Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), Amy’s Gift (QC Eating Disorder Consortium) where she currently serves on the Advisory Committee, and Postpartum Support International (PSI) - Iowa Board of Directors.

Diane specializes in treating clients who present with concerns related to perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, addiction and codependency, and other trauma related stressors. She works primarily with individuals aged 16 and up. She utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach with treatment modalities rooted in the theory of Somatic Experiencing ®, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) which uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, along with commitment and behavior-change, to increase psychological flexibility and overall well being. She has also been presenting for over a decade at local and regional conferences on the topic of using yoga and mindfulness as a tool for supporting emotional health.

Diane is the owner of New Moon Wellness QC, supporting clients across the state of Iowa via tele-health and in-person in Davenport, Iowa. Her practice is In-Network with Wellmark BlueCross BlueShield, and Optum / United Health Care / UMR insurance plans; and also accepts Private Pay.

DESCRIPTION: Today’s explosion of visual social media use--like Instagram and TikTok--has created an epidemic of body image problems for young people. Research ties body dissatisfaction to a host of adolescent mental health problems from eating disorders, to depression and isolation, to suicidal ideation. Amy’s Gift will share Be Real’s evidenced-based Body Confident Schools & BodyKind Curriculum, discuss adolescent body image in 2022, and provide steps that schools and practitioners can take to create a body confident environment for all students/children alike.

Chris McCormick ARNP is the Clinical Director at Vera French Community Mental Health Center, which serves over 10,000 adults and children in our community each year through a variety of programs at numerous community locations.
Stephanie Burrough is a Community Relations Specialist at the Robert Young Center and the Project Coordinator for Amy’s Gift, a Quad Cities Eating Disorders Consortium. She is also a BE REAL Body Confident Schools Ambassador and mental health advocate.
